Former President Bill Clinton has been discharged from the hospital after being treated for a fever, reports said on Wednesday. The 78-year-old former commander-in-chief was diagnosed with the flu and received treatment at a hospital in the Washington, D.C., area. He was discharged on Tuesday, Dec. 24, according to a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) by his deputy chief of staff, Angel Ureña, People magazine reported.
“… His family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received,” Ureña continued. “He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all.”
Clinton will be home for Christmas, though it remains uncertain how this will impact his annual tradition of spending the holiday with his daughter Chelsea’s family, including her three children—Charlotte, 8, Aidan, 6, and Jasper, 3—alongside his wife, Hillary Clinton.
“Hillary says I’ve always been our family’s Christmas elf,” Bill said in 2021.“We always go down on Christmas Eve, spend the night and have Christmas Day with them,” he continued. “And I think it’s the right thing to do, intergenerationally. And then we normally go to the train display at the Bronx Zoo. It’s great.”
