BREAKING: Mass Shooting Outside Church in Salt Lake City Leaves Two Dead, Six Injured

Salt Lake City, Utah — At least eight people were shot, two of them fatally, during a violent incident outside a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building in Salt Lake City on Wednesday evening, according to police.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the church on Redwood Road while a funeral service was taking place. Authorities said an altercation broke out among several individuals before gunfire erupted, sending mourners and bystanders fleeing for safety.

Emergency responders rushed multiple victims to nearby hospitals. Police confirmed that six people were wounded, with several reported to be in critical condition. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement officials stated that the shooting does not appear to be a random attack and there is no indication of a religiously motivated crime. Investigators are working to determine whether one or more suspects were involved. As of now, no arrests have been announced.

Police have closed the surrounding area while detectives review surveillance footage and interview witnesses. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.

Church leaders released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, offering prayers and condolences to the victims and their families.
