Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Later that day, the University of Colorado confirmed the driver was Ponder. Ponder had recently been preparing for his third season with the Colorado Buffaloes. Originally from Florida, he built his reputation as a talented quarterback long before arriving in Boulder.
