A dispute over White House press access has moved to federal court after the Trump administration restricted access for journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
The three news organizations filed a lawsuit on September 21, arguing that the restrictions violated their constitutional rights. The White House has defended its authority to control access to the White House and disputed the allegations.
The dispute also affected the White House television pool after CNN was removed from scheduled pool duties. Other participating organizations temporarily halted coverage in response.
On September 24, U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ordered the administration to temporarily restore access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico. The order is in effect for 14 days while the case continues. The ruling did not resolve the lawsuit permanently.
The White House has also launched “TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station,” an administration-produced online video stream.
The legal dispute remains ongoing, with both sides continuing to argue over press access and the government’s authority to restrict it.
